The Texas Motorcycle Safety Coalition, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute Center for Transportation Safety, will present annual Texas Motorcycle Safety Awards. These competitive awards are meant to recognize, honor, and celebrate those individuals or groups who go “above and beyond” in support of the mission to increase motorcycle safety in the State of Texas. All nominations are considered for each of the following awards:
- The Texas Motorcycle Safety Champion Award
- The Texas Motorcycle Safety Difference Maker Award

2026 Texas Motorcycle Champion Award
The 2026 Champion Award winner is a leader who sets the standard for motorcycle safety.
In their role supporting a large community of military and government riders, this individual ensures dozens of riders each month are trained, prepared, and accountable. They go beyond the basics, leading mentorship rides, delivering safety briefings, and investigating incidents to help prevent future crashes. Their influence extends beyond their organization through collaboration with statewide safety partners and contributions to broader safety initiatives. Most importantly, they’ve built a culture where safety is taken seriously and riders look out for one another.
The 2026 Texas Motorcycle Safety Champion Award for outstanding leadership to improve motorcycle safety is presented to Mark Dumdie.
2026 Texas Motorcycle Safety Difference Maker Award
The 2026 Difference Maker Award winner has spent decades supporting the Texas riding community as a shop owner, racer, instructor, and mentor.
They’ve taught at track days, supported demo events across the state, and personally guided countless riders, often stepping in without being asked.
Known as a true ‘salt of the earth’ mentor, they’ve shared their time, knowledge, and even their own equipment to help others ride safer and smarter.
Their influence has reached thousands of riders across Texas.
The 2026 Motorcycle Safety Difference Maker Award, for notable achievements in improving motorcycle safety, is presented to Dennie Spears.
