A Hello from New Project Manager – Mike Manser

Greetings,

I want take moment to introduce myself.  My position at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute is to help driver and riders be as safe as possible.  Most of this work takes the form of research examining the human-related issues that contribute to crashes and the development of technology that can improve safety for both drivers and riders. Most recently, my work has involved examining the underlying driver-related reasons why riders do and do not wear motorcycle gear and, based on those results, developing an outreach mechanism to increase gear use.  One of my non-work passions includes riding my Triumph in the Hill Country.

As indicated in the previous post, Dr. Walden will be moving into a leadership position with the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) as the Director of Professional and Continuing Education.  I want to take a moment to thank Dr. Walden for developing a strong and highly respected motorcycle safety outreach program in cooperation with TxDOT that impacts the safety of our motorcycling community.  As I take over the motorcycle outreach program I know I have big shoes to fill but with the strong partnerships created by Melissa and my experience in conducting large-scale projects I am confident the outreach program will continue to grow and positively impact rider safety.

If you have any questions please feel to contact me at [email protected].
