The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) Motorcycle/ATV Safety Unit (MSU) is conducting professional development workshops open to all Texas-approved RiderCoaches and RiderCoach Trainers. The workshops cover practices for both in-classroom and on the range coaching, as well as on-cycle activities.

The classroom is located in Flight Line Bldg 770, which is on the northwest area of the campus.

Enter the Reese center at the main gate. Drive straight ahead and follow the main road until the stop sign at the flight line. Turn right. Approx. 1/4 mile turn left into the parking lot on the south side of South Plains College bldg 5. It is directly west of the library (bldg. 4). Once in the parking lot, follow the sidewalk to the gate. The sign will point you to bldg. 770.

Riders must have 1 year of riding experience.  Training is on a race track. Completion of the basic or advanced rider safety course is recommended. Individual medical & motorcycle insurance is required. Minimum of 250cc motorcycle, in good condition. Proper riding gear including DOT or Snell approved helmet manufactured after 2000.

Training is open to all motorcycle types, from sports bikes to cruisers, except dirt bikes.

Each sign will have a blue background with a red cross at the top.  The following information will appear in white:.

•    “In Memory of”
•    Name of the victim
•    Date of the crash

To be eligible for a memorial sign, the crash must have occurred on the state highway system and a crash report or other government document must indicate that the person was killed while riding on or operating a motorcycle.

To help offset the cost of sign fabrication and installation, a $350 fee is required. The sign will remain in place for one year.
